When logging in on the European School Education Platform for the first time, you will have to select your member type. This is an important choice, because some functionalities and content on the platform are tailored based on your member type. After selecting your member type you will not be able to change it yourself, so please have a careful look into the available options.

Most of these options are self-explanatory, but below some of these options are clarified.

  • Teacher: If you are a teacher working at a pre-primary, primary, lower secondary, upper secondary or initial vocational education and training school.

  • Student Teacher: If you are a university/college student who will become a teacher in the future.

  • Careers Counsellor

  • Head Teacher / Principal

  • ICT Coordinator

  • Librarian

  • Pedagogical Adviser

  • School Psychologist

  • Teacher Educator: If you provide initial teacher education to future teachers (for example, while working at a university or an initial teacher training institution).

  • Company staff: If you are working for an entity with a commercial objective, such as a course provider.

  • Government staff / policy maker: If you are working for a (delegated) government body at any level.

  • Researcher

  • Higher education institution staff: If you are working at an (applied) university or similar institution (in any capacity, except as Teacher Educator).

  • Not-for-profit / NGO staff: If you are working for an entity with non-commercial objectives, and which is not a government body.

  • Parent / Guardian

  • Other: If none of the above member types apply to you, you can select this option.

In case you have multiple roles, for example ‘Teacher Educator’ and ‘Company staff’. We recommend selecting the member type that represents your most prominent role or the role that is more relevant to your needs in the context of the European School Education Platform.

In case you work at a school, please select the member type that best describes your role in that school. School-based roles will allow you to use more functionalities on the platform than the other roles, such as the ability to apply for eTwinning.

Note

For teachers in training and teacher educators, it's important to select the right member type here. There are also some specific steps that you should follow later on in the process. Please see here for specific information: How do I register as Student Teacher or Teacher Educator?
