What can pupils and pupil administrators do in TwinSpaces?

Authors list

For pupils there are two roles: simply pupil and pupil administrator.

The default role (pupil) gives access to the whole TwinSpace, including Twinboard, materials, forums, etc.

They also have access to ‘pupil walls’, which allows them to exchange and collaborate with other pupils. Each pupil has a wall per TwinSpace they are part of, and it can be viewed/commented only by members of that TwinSpace. Pupils must start the ‘conversation’ by posting a first message on their own wall for a specific TwinSpace, before other pupils in the same TwinSpace can reply/comment.

There are some TwinSpace features and permissions that pupils do not have:

  • Posting updates

  • Teacher bulletin

  • Online meetings and the chatroom (we are investigating if pupils can be allowed to start or join a chatroom that can be accessed by their teachers, technically and legally)

  • Adding or managing pages

  • Create new forum discussions or threads (but they can reply to existing discussions)

  • Inviting new members

The pupil administrator role gives some of the above permissions, specifically:

  • Posting updates

  • Adding and editing pages (and see draft pages)

  • Creating new forum threads (but not discussions)
